Ford is recalling over 550,000 2014 model year F-150 pickups in the US due to a transmission issue causing unexpected downshifting to first gear regardless of speed, posing a crash risk. The problem stems from a lost signal between a transmission speed sensor and powertrain control computer, potentially exacerbated by corrosion and connector pin issues. Owners will receive free software updates in early July following 396 warranty and field reports and 124 customer complaints.
