WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange stops in Bangkok on his way to a US court and later freedom

A plane believed to be carrying WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has landed in Thailand. He is on his way to enter a plea that will resolve the legal case against him over the publication of classified documents. The chartered plane VJT199 landed at a Bangkok airport Tuesday around noon. It is unclear if it's just a refueling stop. He is scheduled to appear in court in the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth. A U.S. Justice Department filing says he is expected to plead guilty to an Espionage Act charge of conspiring to unlawfully obtain and disseminate classified information. Assange is expected to return to his home country of Australia after his plea and sentencing.
