FORT SALONGA, N.Y. (PIX11) – Three good Samaritans saved a woman from a burning car on Long Island Sunday evening, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The woman, Tempestt Harris-Buckner, swerved to avoid hitting an animal on Bread and Cheese Hollow Road near Pulaski Street around 6 p.m., sending her crashing into a utility pole, police said.

When the pole and car caught fire, three men jumped into action, police said.

Michael Susinno and John McPartland were nearby and grabbed the Harris-Buckner from her car, pulling her across the street, police said. Meanwhile, Michel Pitre used a belt to tourniquet her leg, police said.

The woman was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to SCPD.
