British woman ‘gang-raped after attending festival’ in Paris
A British woman has allegedly been raped while attending a festival in Paris.
The unnamed victim was found crying and holding her underwear in the Chatelet-Les Halles district in the centre of the French capital.
She said that she had been to Fete de la Musique (Music Festival) where she had been gang-raped by several men and robbed of her mobile phone.
The alleged attack happened in the early hours of Saturday morning and she was discovered at 7am that day.
She was taken to Cochin Hospital by firefighters and police are now investigating the circumstances around the attack, according to Le Figaro.
On the same day, five teenage girls aged 13 to 17 were targeted at an event that was also part of Fete de la Musique, eight miles away in Val-de-Marne, south east Paris.
The girls said they felt stinging in their arms while dancing and shortly after they started feeling dizzy and nauseous. They also had headaches and a fever, witnesses told Le Parisien.
Three of them had marks on their arms and two men who were stopped at the scene were later released by police. The two incidents are not believed to be connected.
Mayor of Saint-Maur, Sylvain Berrios, said incidents like these were difficult to stop but that CCTV and security had been increased in the area.
The annual festival takes place on June 21 across France with a mission to promote music.
Amateur and professional musicians from across the world perform across hundreds of stages.
