I paid £50 for my daughter’s first birthday cake but the baker made a stupid mistake – people ‘can’t stop laughing’
A MUM has left people in hysterics after revealing the epic error a baker made while decorating her daughter’s first birthday cake.
Casie decided she wanted to put in an order for a pretty cake for daughter Nova’s birthday on an online site.
And when she came to checkout, she had to put in instructions for what she wanted piped on the cake.
However, in a video on TikTok, Casie revealed that her instructions were taken a bit too literally.
“So I put that I wanted sweet one and then the number one and then I put for them in brackets that I wanted a heart next to the one,” she explained.
They’ve only gone and wrote a ‘heart next to the one’ on the flipping cake. Like are you joking me?
“I paid £50 quid for this cake!
“Why would they not have saw it and knew that I didn’t want that on the cake?
“I was just telling them I wanted them to draw a heart next to the one.
“No, because I’m absolutely fuming right now. I don’t know what to do. Do I complain about it or is it my fault?”
She added that she was at a loss with what to do, because the birthday party was “in an hour”.
In the end, Casie had to put strawberries and blueberries on top of the cake to conceal the extra writing.
“I know people would have found it funny, but I just thought you know what, just add strawberries,” Casie concluded.
“PLEASE TELL ME WHY YOU WOULDNT SEE WHAT I WROTE AND UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEANT,” she captioned the video.
But in the comments section, people admitted that the baker’s error had left them giggling all day.
“I’m sorry but that’s so funny,” one wrote.
“I find this hilarious,” another added.
“I’m sorry for you but I can’t stop laughing!”
“I’m sorry but the strawberries, blueberries and the indents to the cake is cracking me up,” a third laughed.
As someone else said: “They followed instructions the same way you should of.
“They said write what you would like on the cake. So you should have put the heart shape!!!”
“I’m sorry but it doesn’t take a genius to understand what I meant,” Casie hit back.
“It’s my first time ordering a cake from somewhere & they should have communicated with me to see what I meant!!”
“Omg no way! At least it’ll be a funny story but I’d defo complain!” someone else wrote.
What are my rights if I hate a personalised buy?
WHILE some insisted Casie should complain to the baker, what rights would she have for demanding a refund over the error?
Well, according to the Citizens Advice Bureau, you “could be entitled to a refund, repair or replacement” if the item you bought is:
- broken or damaged – this is known as not of satisfactory quality
- unusable – this is known as not fit for purpose
- not what was advertised or doesn’t match the seller’s description
However, if the item was damaged by wear and tear, or an accident or misuse, you won’t have any rights.
The Legal Documents website adds: “You have the right to cancel your order for custom-made or personalised goods within a specific period, often 14 days from the date the order was placed or the date the goods were received.”
While others revealed their own hilarious fails with personalised products.
“I got a whiskey glass personalised and thought I was being polite, after putting my message I put ‘kind regards, Siobhan’ – they engraved that too!!” one person admitted.
“It’s an ongoing joke in the family now lol…!”
“Stop! I ordered a Costco cake for my girls 1st birthday.. they wrote 1TH. I wish I was joking,” another sighed.
“Gender reveal for my daughter I put what will it be girl (pink) boy (blue) and yes they wrote it like that,” a third giggled.
“My mum ordered a personalised mug with the name Daryl on it but she put ‘Daryl (one r one l)’ in the request and that’s exactly what they wrote on the mug – ‘Daryl (one r one l)’.”
