Due to the growth of the fire, the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 1 'Be Ready' notice overnight for all homes south of Mile Post 24 Hwy 216 to Blue Rock Road in Maupin.

Officials are also encouraging any boaters in the area to be careful as helicopters may be dipping water out of the river.

They add the fire is currently moving to the north and west following the river drainage. The south end of the fire is slowly spreading to the southwest.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
