A $20 scratch-off ticket purchased in Columbus has made one lucky player a $2 million winner, after choosing the cash option of $1 million and netting around $720,000 after mandatory state and federal taxes.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A $20 scratch-off ticket purchased in Columbus has made one lucky player a $2 million winner, according to the Ohio Lottery.
In a news release, the Ohio Lottery announced that the top $2 million prize was claimed on a ticket sold at M & S Carryout, 590 Georgesville Rd. The winner chose the cash option of $1 million; however, after 28% mandatory state and federal taxes, the person netted around $720,000.
The lottery noted that the prize was won with a $300 Million Diamond Dazzler scratch-off ticket. The ticket costs $20 and has a top prize offering $80,000 a year for 25 years. Three top prizes are still up for grabs with this scratch-off as of June 17.
The lottery's website states that the overall odds of winning is 1 in 3.33 for players of the $300 Million Diamond Dazzler.
