Redditor Lunalovegoodhero commented her tips on the social media platform.

“I am a hair puller,” she said.

She added that she uses the Mielle Rosemary Mint Oil, sold for $9.99 at Target.

“I use it and it helps me grow out my bald spots quick,” she said.

THE REAL SECRET

The Redditor added her specific technique for getting the most out of her hair oil.

“The real secret is to massage it into your hair for three to four minutes as that creates blood flow to the scalp,” she said.

“Also there is a ‘light’ version, don’t buy it because it’s not as effective.”

Hair oils containing rosemary have been known to have positive effects on growth.

RAVE REVIEWS

Several Target shoppers praised the hair oil in the reviews section.

“This product has thicken my hair back and it’s growing really well,” one wrote.

“[The] only thing is the smell lingers for a few days, but I’m happy with the results.”

“I let this sit in my hair for an hour before I wash it,” another added.

“I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair since I’ve started and it’s grown significantly.

“Definitely worth trying.”

“After repeated usage I’ve noticed a big difference in my hairs density and length,” a third reviewed.

“It’s not a miracle by any means, but for me there has been noticeable improvement, especially around my hair line where you can see all the baby hairs (that aren’t so baby anymore).

“I’ve changed a lot about my hair care routine and have managed to really get my hair growing but I think this product has a lot to do with it.

“It is heavy for my fine hair so I use it as an over night treatment 2-3 times a week and wash it out in the morning before going about my day. I like the scent and the ‘tingle’ it gives my scalp.

“After working it into my scalp I drag several drops through my mids and ends before brushing it through and giving myself a nice little scalp massage.

“I’ve really enjoyed this product, I’m on my fifth bottle, and intend on continuing using it until I reach my hair goals.”

How does scalp massage promote hair growth?

recent study from the Dermatology and Therapy Journal found that 69% of 340 participants self-reported an improvement in their hair loss after having scalp massages.

Another study, published in 2016, found that “scalp massage resulted in increased hair thickness 24 weeks after initiation of massage.”

So how does it work? A boost in blood circulation in the area can make a positive difference.

“When it comes to the scalp, massage can help to stimulate blood circulation and stretch the hair follicles to help promote growth,” Arran Isherwood, a Senior Trichologist Specialist at FUE Clinics, told The U.S. Sun.

Haircare expert Gaia Tonanzi agrees.

“There is some evidence that massaging your scalp can help increase blood flow, which ultimately supports healthy hair growth,” she told The U.S. Sun.
