Early summer cools slightly in Oregon, but mostly dry

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The early days of summer have seen real heat in the Portland metro area. And though Sunday will be a little cooler it won't be cold by any stretch of the imagination.

There will be more cloud cover on Sunday around our region with the possibility of spotty drizzle up and down our coast range and over the Cascades, but those few raindrops will move out as Sunday wraps up. The Portland metro area is expected to be partly cloudy, but staying dry Sunday.

Things will remain dry through the middle of next week, with some isolated drizzle on Thursday. But next weekend looks dry at this time.

Overnight lows will be in the upper-50s to lower-60s, so you might want a light jacket or sweatshirt.

Expect highs around 72 in the Portland-Vancouver metro areas, slightly warmer in Salem and Corvallis.

So a quick look at our 7-day forecast shows dry and sunny with temps in the mid-70s on Sunday, then slightly cooling mid-week -- but back to summer temps of 75-85 by next Friday and Saturday.

As for your allergies -- hang in there. There are abundant allergens in grasses with moderate- to high levels through the beginning of the week. But by midweek, things seem to improve.
