A BRIDE has been described as ‘unhinged’ after she asked her bridesmaids to wear the her name on their necklaces.

An anonymous Redditor, who posted in the subreddit forum “r/weddingshaming,” was flabbergasted after seeing photos of her coworker participating in a bridal party while wearing the bride’s name around her neck.

“I was chatting with my coworker today who had been in a wedding over the weekend,” the anonymous user wrote.

“I asked how it went and she said she had a great time and started showing me some pictures.”

The coworker, she continued, looked “absolutely radiant,” and the poster gushed over the “gorgeous” venue and “lovely day.” But then, she noticed something bizarre.

“She’s scrolling through her camera roll when about a dozen pictures in she shows me a selfie in which I notice she is wearing a gold necklace that says Julia*,’” she wrote.

“The thing is, my coworker’s name is Maggie*.”

She added: “This freakin bride actually made all her bridesmaids get necklaces WITH HER NAME ON IT!!!”

The bewildered woman couldn’t believe the bride would have forced her bridesmaids to “pay for and wear ‘Julia’ necklaces to the wedding.”

“Who the hell does that!? I’m sorry but is that not hilariously insane!?” she continued, saying it “blew my f***ing mind.”

“If I was capable of shutting up I’d be speechless.”

Readers were quick to agree, saying the person’s story was a “favourite,” calling it “unhinged.”

“This is delightfully unhinged,” wrote one person.

“Nothing to end a friendship over but also, Julia — what the hell? Did you buy several Julia necklaces for one photo in your wedding album? That was a choice.”

They continued: “And what do you do with the necklace after the wedding? Regift it to the bride in a couple of years? Befriend another Julia?”

“That just screams insecurity. Like, the bride was so worried about people forgetting about her or one of her bridesmaids would steal the show that she had to do something so that every moment would be about her, even moments she wasn’t present for,” someone else commented.

“Did the groomsman have to do anything similar for the groom? I assumed not since there’s no mention of it. If that’s the case, it makes this even tackier on the bride’s part.”

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
  • Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.

“This is crazy but I was honestly expecting drunk bachelorette tattoos so I’m glad to be wrong!” one relieved Redditor wrote.

“At least you can throw away a necklace… how bizarre. I bet they got called the wrong name a few times on the trip.”
