Man critically injured in stabbing, head-on crash in Northeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man is in the hospital with severe injuries after driving with a stabbing injury, eventually causing a head-on crash in Northeast Portland early Friday evening.

Just before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Northeast 102nd Avenue and Sacramento Street, finding two cars had been in a head-on crash and one of the drivers had been seriously injured in a stabbing.

Police soon learned the driver, a 56-year-old man, was stabbed somewhere else and was driving while injured, eventually swerving into oncoming traffic before crashing.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and had to be stabilized in the emergency room, officials say.

His prognosis has not been released at this time.

The other driver was also injured, but officials say he did not need hospitalization.

The incident is currently under investigation and no arrests have been made, according to PPB.
