Trump has 'more serious' problems than cognitive as he heads into debate: ex-Senator
Appearing on MSNBC's "The Weekend " on Saturday morning, former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) had some advice for President Joe Biden as he heads into his debate with disgraced ex-president Donald Trump and then she hinted the former president has additional issues of his own that go beyond questions about his mental competence.
Speaking with co-host Alicia Menendez, McCaskill stated Biden needs to go for the jugular when he confronts what is expected to be a combative Trump.
"I mean, they've [Trumps' camp] gone way out of their way to make this man [Biden] look incompetent," she pointed out. "When Joe Biden shows up — and not only will — he doesn't respect Donald Trump. I don't think he's going to be afraid to say ' Heyshut up man, again,' or even maybe more like 'Do you ever quit lying?'"
"I mean, he's got to do that, he's got to leave the presidential dignified Joe Biden at the door and he's got to appear as scrappy Joe from Scranton who's willing to take on big guys that are not there for the little guy," she continued. "And if he does that — you know, Donald Trump has his own cognitive issues and frankly he's got things that are more serious. But the point is that Joe Biden has an opportunity here, he has an opportunity to clear the air about whether or not he strong enough to be commander-in-chief for another four years."
