Woman killed when car hits her as she walked in CT city; case under investigation

A 59-year-old woman died late Friday when she was struck by a car as she was walking along a street in Norwalk, police said.

Norwalk police said the Norwalk Combined dispatch received a 911 call just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, requesting emergency response to Riverside Avenue, or Riverside Cemetery, for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries in which a pedestrian was hit.

Norwalk police, Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service
were dispatched to the scene and patrol officers and firefighters began providing medical aid to the pedestrian, police said.

However, Kathleen Quigley-Cutting, who was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Norwalk
Emergency Medical Service for serious injuries, later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The Norwalk Police Department Crime Scene Unit responded to the crash, with crash reconstruction investigators, who assumed the investigation, police said.
