Hooch tragedy echoes in Tamil Nadu Assembly for second consecutive day, govt rules out CBI probe

In the Tamil Nadu Assembly, the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy, which has resulted in 53 deaths, was a focal point for the second consecutive day. The opposition AIADMK staged a walkout over the issue, demanding a CBI inquiry. In response, the ruling DMK criticized AIADMK for politicizing the matter and emphasized the government's transparency. Law Minister S Regupathy asserted that a CBI inquiry was unnecessary, stating that the government had been forthcoming and had nothing to hide.
