Instead of spending money on a new bottle of foundation to match her tanned skin, she explained that she simply alters the foundation she has.
“I use cheap Wet n Wild makeup to darken or lighten my ‘good’ foundation to match my skin throughout the year,” she said.
“Sometimes I tan, and then stop, and so on, and this helps keep my foundation matching.
The makeup fan revealed that she mixes a few drops of Wet n Wild’s $7 Photo Focus Foundation in a darker shade to get her color perfect.
She added that another trick helps her extend the life of expensive lipsticks.
“I have also taken lipstick that dried a bit (my Mac lipsticks do every time), potted it, and mixed it with a little cheap balm to make it usable again,” she said.
Other makeup enthusiasts explained that they use a similar technique, albeit with different products.
“I do the same with my foundation! I use Physician’s Formula cream bronzer to mix with my lighter foundations,” said one commenter.
“Works like a charm.”
A few explained that they invested in color-changing products designed to adjust their liquid products.
“The Body Shop came out with little dropper bottles of foundation lightener and darker specifically for this purpose,” said one commenter.
The product is no longer available, but a budget-friendly brand has a similar option.
The NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Pro Drop Foundation Shifter is currently on sale at Amazon.
The prices range from $6 to $7.87 depending on the shade.

“Similarly, for dried-out mascara, just a few drops of contact lens solution will perk it right up again,” suggested one.
While some warned about using expired mascara for fear of bacterial infections to the eyes, others explained that the trick sufficed for mascara that dried out quickly.
Another Reddit user shared a tip that helps dried mascara go on smoother.
“When I am halfway through a tube [of mascara], but it has started getting goopy (but not old enough to throw away), I run really hot water into a cup and let the tube sit in that while I do the rest of my makeup,” said another.
“Makes it go on smoother and clump-free without changing the formula.”
