Kallakurichi Hooch tragedy: Death toll rises to 53; seven people arrested

The Kallakurichi Hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu has increased the death toll from 50 to 53, with 140 of the 193 patients who consumed illicit liquor being safe. Seven people have been arrested and the case has been handed over to the CBI CID branch of Tamil Nadu Police. 250 litres of illicit liquor were seized and disposed off in Tiruchirapalli district, and the state government will cover the education and hostel expenses of children who lost parents in the tragedy.
