'It keeps kids out of trouble': Eunice Queen Cinema listed for sale
EUNICE, La. (KLFY)-- The Queen Cinema in Eunice was listed for sale for $130,000.
The Queen Cinema opened in 1937, and its current owners Doug and Cathy Collins bought it in 2014.
The Collins said they have no plans to close the movie theater and will continue to operate it as normal until someone buys the building.
Multiple people have expressed interest in buying the building. The buyer determines if the building will remain the Queen Cinema or if it will house a new business.
Many in Eunice are worried the new owners will close the movie theater that's been operating for 87 years to open a new business.
"It's nothing here in the community, but I would love for it to stay open because it's nothing here to do," Carla Farmer of Eunice said. "It keeps the kids out of trouble."
Doug Collins said he understands the value of a cinema in a small town, and he is happy to assist transfer ownership of the Queen Cinema.
