Fake elector case in Nevada dismissed over venue question, state attorney general vows appeal

0
A Nevada judge has dismissed a criminal indictment against six Republicans accused of submitting certificates to Congress falsely declaring Donald Trump the winner of the state’s 2020 presidential election. Friday’s ruling that state prosecutors improperly chose Las Vegas as the venue could remove Nevada from among four states with criminal charges pending against so-called fake electors. State Attorney General Aaron Ford vowed to appeal to the state Supreme Court. The judge agreed with defense attorneys that the case should have been brought in Reno or Carson City, where the six GOP officials including the state party chairman met in December 2020 and signed documents they wanted Congress to accept.
