27 News obtains audio of 20+ gunshots in deadly shooting

TOPEKA (KSNT) – 27 News has obtained audio of rapid gunfire a viewer found on their outdoor camera Friday morning during a deadly West Topeka shooting.

Nearly 30 successive gunshots are heard, followed by a woman screaming for help. 27 News has chosen to only play audio of the gunshots.

Topeka Police said a man and a woman were shot near 17th and Oakley, which is east of Gage. Both were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The man died from his injuries.

Police said the shooting happened at 2:16 a.m. Friday, which corresponds to the timestamp on the video obtained by 27 News.

Police had many roads in the area blocked off during their investigation.
