Lana del Rey was scheduled to perform at Fenway Park in Boston on Thursday night, but things got off to a chaotic start when severe thunderstorms meant that fans had to be evacuated from the field.

As concertgoers settled into the stadium for the 8:30 p.m. show, a message appeared on the scoreboard telling them to “immediately” evacuate the open-air parts of the field. “Please take time to assemble all members of your party and calmly proceed inside the stadium concourse,” the sign read, per Newsweek.

With some fans complaining about lack of communication from park officials — especially given that the concert was taking place amid an ongoing heatwave — Del Rey took to Instagram to explain what was going on. “They are holding off the show until 9:00 because of the wind warnings,” she wrote on her Story, adding, “See you soon.” In another post, she explained that “Every time the lightning strikes, we have to wait 20 minutes. And it just keeps striking. So what we were hoping for was to fill the room back up by 10 o’clock and at least do an hour-long show. That’s what we’re hoping for, bare minimum.”

Fortunately, the weather cleared up, and when del Rey did finally take the stage at 10:30, she sang 15 songs, performing past Boston’s 11 p.m. curfew for concerts and events. Wearing a red dress and silver sequined boots, Del Rey brought out Mason Ramsey, Stephen Sanchez, and Quavo. She closed the night out with “Video Games” before thanking fans who sang “Happy Birthday” to her as she left the stage: The singer is 39 today.
