Report: Spurs receive potential boost in race for Bundesliga ace as Bayern pull out
Tottenham have been handed a boost in their rumoured pursuit of Chris Fuhrich, with Sport Bild (as relayed by BuliNews) reporting that Bayern Munich have now pulled out of the race for the Stuttgart star.
Tottenham are interested in Chris Fuhrich
Fuhrich is currently with the German squad at the European championship but the winger does not know where he will be playing his club football next season, with the speculation over his future continuing to intensify.
Christian Falk reported earlier this month that Tottenham had been impressed by the 26-year-old’s displays at the MPH Arena this season and are set to battle Bayern Munich for the player’s services.
Earlier this week, Florian Plettenberg explained that while the attacker has a release clause in his contract, the clause would be valid until the end of this month.
The journalist further asserted that while Bundesliga clubs would only have to pay €20m (£16.8m) to trigger the clause, Premier League sides would have to pay €23m-€25m (£19.4m-£21.1m) to sign the winger.
Bayern no longer in the race for Fuhrich
If Bild’s latest update is to be believed, Bayern have now decided to bow out of the race for Fuhrich’s signature despite initially expressing interest.
However, the report makes it clear that the winger is still far from certain to remain at Stuttgart, with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund eyeing a move for him.
The publication makes no mention of Tottenham but adds that two unnamed Serie A clubs are also circling over the German international.
Spurs Web Opinion
None of the British outlets or journalists with sources high up at Spurs have suggested that the Lilywhites are particularly keen on Fuhrich.
At the moment, it seems like the 26-year-old is likely to stay put in Germany but things could change quite quickly, given the modest release clause.
