Spalletti licks his wounds after Spanish schooling, De La Fuente says they will get even better
June 21 – Italy manager Luciano Spalletti admitted that his side were outplayed by Spain in a 1-0 defeat, but said that the humbling reality check must prompt his side to improve.
Italy were schooled by La Roja, who retained 58% of possession but played with a directness and ferocity that they failed to produce in the latter years of the Tiki-Taka era.
Spalletti (pictured) and his team struggled to be meaningful on the ball and so the main heavyweight clash of the first round never was competitive.
