Indian man alleges genitals removed, non-consensual sex change surgery: ‘Changed from boy to girl’

A man in Uttar Pradesh, India, claims he underwent gender reassignment surgery without his consent at a local hospital, resulting in the removal of his genitalia.

India Today reported that 20-year-old Mujahed accuses a man of arranging the surgery to marry him.

The hospital has denied Mujahed’s claims.

According to India Today, Mujahed was taken to the hospital and sedated by someone who had previously harassed him, then underwent the surgery.

This young resident of Muzaffarnagar stated that when he woke up the morning after the operation, he discovered his genitalia had been removed.

He claimed that upon regaining consciousness, Amprakash, the man who took him to the hospital, told him he was now a woman and would be taken to Lucknow to get married.

Mujahed added that Amprakash threatened to kill his father if he resisted.

He alleged that the doctors and hospital staff colluded with Amprakash to perform the gender reassignment surgery.

India Today reported that on June 16, police arrested Amprakash following a complaint from Mujahed’s father.

Meanwhile, farmers’ union members protested outside the hospital, accusing the police of negligence in investigating the case.

A leader of the union accused the hospital doctors of being involved in illegal organ trade.

Muzaffarnagar’s local hospital denied the claim of non-consensual gender reassignment surgery. A senior official stated that Mujahed had regularly visited plastic surgery specialist Reza Farooqi for over two months.

Kirti Goswami said Mujahed identified as a woman and requested the surgery. Mujahed was referred to a psychiatrist, found mentally suitable, and underwent surgery on June 6. A video of Mujahed discussing the surgery exists but is unreleased.
