EC to update voters' list in J-K, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana

The Election Commission has started preparations for upcoming assembly elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, with electoral roll updates by July 1, 2024. The existing legislative assembly terms in the three states end by early 2025, requiring elections before then. Plans to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir are in progress.
