Cyber tip leads to child sex abuse image arrest in Middleburgh

MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Middleburgh man was arrested and is accused of drug charges and possessing child sex abuse materials, according to New York State Police. Christian McCance, 23, faces several charges.

According to New York State Police, an investigation into McCance stemmed after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Police executed a search warrant at his Middleburgh home in February. He's accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

Charges:

• Promoted a sexual performance by a child
• Possessing a sexual performance by a child
• Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

McCance was arrested outside of his home and taken to Cobleskill State Police. He was processed, and when he was taken into custody, police said he had a controlled substance on him. He was then taken to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
