Antechamber

Antechamber is a minimalist collectible furniture collection by the Milan-based design practice StudioDanielK. With a successful collection debut at Alcova during Milan Design Week 2024, Antechamber, as the studio’s inaugural collection since its inception in 2023, offers a glimpse into the creative universe and aesthetics of StudioDanielK. 

Featuring seating, tables, candle sticks, and lighting, the ten-piece collection explores the intersection of tradition and innovation. Inspired by contrasting styles of architecture — the elegant and ornate flair of classical Italian buildings and the functional, innovative designs of Brazilian modernist architects — Antechamber as a collection investigates the tension between the pursuit of the new and the comfort of the familiar.

The material palette used in the collection is also inspired by Italian and Brazilian design. The use of Rouge du Roi and Saint Laurent marble in pieces such as the “Onda” armchair and “Jardin” side table harken back to traditional Italian craftsmanship, while the smoked eucalyptus wood used in the designs of various pieces including the “Palinista” coffee table is an ode to Brazilian masterpieces of wooden furniture. Further details such as the use of translucent honey onyx embellished onto the “Joia” lights and mirror nod to StudioDanielK’s co-founder, Daniel Kolodziejczak’s past of working as a jewelry designer in the cities of Paris and Milan.

Both materially rich and elegantly subdued in design, Antechamber leaves design lovers excited for future StudioDanielK collections to come.
