A British man has died after being stabbed outside a nightclub on the Spanish coast in the early hours of this morning.

Local media reported that a fight broke out in front of the Oxygen club in Calella, a seaside resort roughly 30 miles from Barcelona.

The man, described as a 31-year-old tourist of English origin, died at the scene.

A second victim was also injured and is currently being treated in hospital.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. No further details about his identity have been confirmed.

Police sources cited in local reports suggest he was traced after detectives reviewed CCTV footage from the nightclub.

A number of bystanders who witnessed the fight have also been interviewed.

Authorities were reportedly in the process of contacting British officials later on Friday morning to pass the news onto the victim’s family.

Only hours later, another man was stabbed during a fight near Barcelona’s iconic Sagrada Familia church.

The victim, who is of North African origin, suffered a serious wound to his leg but is expected to recover.
