‘I’m upset’ trolls moan as proud DIYer shows off £19 faux brick wall – and people say it looks as cheap as it was

A PROUD DIYer has found herself targeted by trolls after sharing how she made a ‘brick’ wall for under £20.

She took to TikTok to post a video of how she created the look, beginning with applying painter’s tape to the wall in a brick formation.

But her messy methods didn’t go down too well with trolls, many of whom said it looked like a high school play prop[/caption]

She then used jointing compound and “smudged” it on to the wall.

“No right way, no wrong way,” she added, showing herself literally smearing it onto the wall.

Before the jointing compound was dry – not when it’s wet but before it set solid – she removed the painter’s tape.

Once the bricks were totally dry, she got her paints ready – choosing a mixture of brown and red hues to make them more realistic.

Using a sponge cut in half, she added the colour to the bricks gently.

She then used the jointing compound with her finger to make the “grout lines” between the “bricks”.

The next TikTok video showed the finished look, as she said she’d spent $24 on the entire thing – £19.

But if she’d gone to get a sheet of the fake brick walling, it would have cost her around £395 ($500).

However, people in the comments section were less than complimentary about her methods.

“Oh baby…. Imma hold your hand when I tell you this…” one wrote.

“Now your home can look like a high school production of little shop of horrors,” another sighed.

“Cute!! (My husband would divorce me),” a third commented, while others insisted it looks just as cheap as she said it was.

“If I take my glasses off , squint and stand about 20ft away HELL YEAH,” someone else said.

“It would be less work to put an actual brick wall,” another pointed out.

“It’s giving high school play prop but if you like it…” someone else said.

“I could hear the hope leave your voice in the voiceover,” another laughed.

“Well it’s definitely DIY!” someone else joked.

“I really like it – you did a great job!”

“Not exactly like brick wall but gorgeous. I would do this for a half bathroom.”

“You know what though? I celebrate people that wanna be creative and whimsical in their home and I bet it will look good!” someone else wrote.

“Turned out fine. people love complaining,” another added.

“Tbh it doesn’t look that bad,” someone else said.
