Calum adds to his backroom staff
Callum Davidson has moved quickly to have his backroom staff in place for the start of pre-season training ahead of a training camp next week. Joining him at Queen’s Park are Steven MacLean, who worked with Davidson when St Johnstone won both the League Cup and the Scottish Cup, and three times capped Scottish internationalist Barry Nicolson.
Steven started his playing career at Rangers in 2002 and ended it on loan at Raith Rovers from Hearts in 2020 after stops at nine different clubs.
The four times capped Scotland under-21 player was appointed as the first-team coach at St Johnstone when he retired from playing and also had spells as interim and permanent manager of the club before leaving in October 2023.
Barry also started his career at Rangers however he is better known for his stints at Dunfermline Athletic and Aberdeen that were followed by spells in England with Preston North End and Fleetwood Town before returning to Scotland and featuring for Kilmarnock.
After three seasons as the Development Manager at Fleetwood, Barry worked with their First Team for five years before coaching at Nottingham Forest last season.
Barry has now started work at Queen’s with Callum adding: “Steven is obviously someone I know well, and I am looking forward to working with him again. I am sure our players will also enjoy working with him.
“Barry knows the Scottish game, knows how to develop players and also work in a first team environment, so he is a perfect fit for this club.”
Director of Football Darren O’Donnell said: “I am delighted that we have been able to act fast and bring Steven and Barry in. They will help ensure that the First Team squad are ready for the challenges ahead.
“They have both gained great experience as coaches in their careers and it is great to have that added to what is already at the club.”
