Kevin Costner Officially Announces 'Yellowstone' Exit, Says He'll See Fans at the Movies Instead

Kevin Costner has officially confirmed that he will not return to Yellowstone.

The first half of season five aired at the end of 2022 and fans won’t get the second half of the season until November 2024. Unfortunately, Kevin won’t be in the second half of the season.

Kevin announced his exit in an Instagram video while promoting the release of his movie Horizon: An American Saga, which hits theaters June 28.

“Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone — that beloved series that I love — that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future,” Kevin said.

He continued, “It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning,” he reiterated before concluding, “I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies.”

Kevin starred as John Dutton III on the Paramount Network series. The second half of season five was delayed due to the writers’ strike.
