Rohit Sharma-Rishabh Pant AVERT Major Injury During Ind vs Afg T20 WC 2024 Super 8 Match; Video Goes VIRAL | WATCH
Barbados: Rishabh Pant was safe and sound with the gloves behind the stumps against Afghanistan on Thursday during India’s Super 8 game at Barbados. But again there was an instance where things could have gotten bad for Pant and India captain Rohit Sharma. The incident took place in the 11th over off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. Gulbadin Naib hit the ball in the air and then Pant was running towards it, Rohit was also at covers. Eventually, Pant took the catch safely, but things got a little too close. Rohit was very close to Pant when the catch was taken. Surely, a collision and an injury was averted. Here is the clip of the moment:
As Pant turned to throw the ball back, Rohit humorously gestured and repeatedly told him, “Aaram se, Aaram se” (take it easy, take it easy).
Meanwhile, Rohit admitted that the partnership between Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav proved crucial as India started their Super 8 campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 with a 47-run win.
Opting to bat first, India were in a spot of bother after losing four wickets for 90 runs in the 11th over. That’s where both Suryakumar and Hardik came together as the duo put on 60 runs for the fifth wicket that propelled the Men in Blue to 181/7.
“The last two years we’ve played T20s here, so we understand the conditions and planned accordingly,” Rohit said after the game. “Everyone came in and did their job, that’s critical and we dwell on it. SKY and Hardik’s partnership was critical at that point, we needed someone to bat deep which they did,” he added.
