Candidate for NY Assembly 106th dist. talks issues

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Tuesday is the state primary. Assembly member Didi Barrett is trying to hold on to her 106th district seat from a challenge by fellow democrat Claire Cousin.

Barrett is focusing her campaign on issues such as crime, the environment and affordability, especially housing. "At every level we need housing, but certainly the biggest challenge is to create the they type of affordable housing to keep people in the community," said Barrett.

She adds affordable housing will, "allow couples and young families to stay here or to start their families and allow older families to downsize if they want to but still be able to afford a place to live."

Barrett sat down with News10 to discuss the issues facing the 106th district.
