San Rafael residence damaged in fire

The blaze happened on Yosemite Road in the Contempo Marin neighborhood.

A fire damaged a residence Thursday in the Contempo Marin neighborhood of San Rafael, a fire official said.

The incident began around 1:45 a.m. at the Yosemite Road home, and firefighters had the fire under control within 20 minutes, said Deputy Chief Robert Sinnott of the San Rafael Fire Department.

No injuries were reported and the fire did not damage neighboring homes, Sinnott said. He said the cause is under investigation but the fire appears to have started by discarded cigarette materials on a rear porch.
