Columbus and Central Ohio Weather

HEAT ADVISORY UNTIL 8 P.M.
AIR QUALITY ALERT (Franklin, Union, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield Counties)

A large dome of heat covers the eastern half of the country. At the surface, high pressure is anchored over the Mid-Atlantic states, continuing a light southeasterly flow of hot, humid air.

An Air Quality Alert, for the buildup of ground-level ozone, is in effect for Franklin, Union, Delaware, Licking and Fairfield counties through sunset.

Sunshine and dry weather Thursday through Saturday will result in slightly warmer readings in the mid-90s, but with a subtle drop in humidity. Regardless, plenty of heat and humidity will make it uncomfortable and it's important to stay hydrated and limit your time outdoors during the afternoon hours.

An isolated shower or storm is possible over the northern part of the state, as a cold front sags south across the Great Lakes, before stalling north of Ohio.

A cold front will finally approach the region later on Sunday, kicking off a few storms, and bringing cooler and less humid weather to start next week, as high pressure slides south across the Great Lakes.

However, a return flow from the south will begin to warm things up again on Tuesday.
