Sheriff investigate dead child found near Sherwood Lake

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a deceased child near Sherwood Lake.

According to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office, just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a call about an incident on Southwest Worwick Town Road. When law enforcement arrived to the scene, a deceased child was found.

Deputies are currently on scene actively investigating the incident. One adult subject is in custody.

More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues, according to the Sheriff's Office.
