Progress made on upcoming community center in Upper Arlington

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) - A community center that has been in the works for years is moving along in Upper Arlington.

The Bob Crane Community Center, located in the Kingsdale Shopping Center at 3200 Tremont Road, is making progress with its construction. The facility is expected to open in spring 2025, according to the city's social media.

The multipurpose building spanning over more than 165,000 square feet with five floors will include an indoor pool, fitness spaces, three gymnasiums, an e-sports room, track, program classrooms, along with an outdoor terrace, art gallery, senior lounge and more.

The timeline for the project was introduced in 2018 by the city's Parks and Recreations Department, eventually leading to its groundbreaking in April 2023. As construction continues, the Parks and Recreations Department now has a proposed plan when it comes to the center's budget and fee structure.

The department provided an update to city council on the proposed fee structure on June 10 and is holding public meetings to share those plans with the community. Those meetings are scheduled via Zoom on June 24 at noon and an in person meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 27 at the Municipal Services Center.

Along membership and fees, the proposal also includes a look at its hours of operation, programming, staffing and more. For additional information on the community center and its proposed fees, click here.
