WCSO identifies 2 arrested in drug bust, charged with human trafficking
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A total of five people were arrested last week after a drug bust in Taylor, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. During the investigation, an additional charge of trafficking a child for sexual conduct was added.
On June 12, WCSO executed a search warrant in the 400 block of East Rio Grande Street in Taylor, which resulted in the arrest of all five people for possession of a controlled substance-- more specifically methamphetamine, the agency said in a news release on Wednesday.
The first person suspect identified, Edward Tito Garza has "a history of violent and drug-related offense," -- which includes a murder conviction from 1992 -- multiple arrests for evading arrest, failing to identify as a fugitive and various drug charges, according to WCSO. Additionally, Garza was charged with trafficking a child for sexual conduct. The second person, Claudia Gaspar, was arrested and charged with trafficking of persons.
Garza's total bond was set at $600,000, and Gaspar's bond was set at $75,000, according to WCSO.
While a total of five people were arrested, only Garza and Gaspar were identified by officials.
WCSO said it remains committed to fighting human trafficking and drug offenses and urges any additional victims to contact the tip line at 512-943-1170 or by email at drug-humantraffickinginfo@wilco.org.
No other details were released Wednesday.
