‘Works like magic!’ gardeners say about patio cleaner that gets rid of black spots a pressure washer can’t

FORGET dirt – there’s something harder to get off patio stones than mud.

And that’s those annoying black spots, which are actually a type of lichen that embeds itself beneath the surface and even a hardy pressure washer can’t remove.

But there’s an easy way gardeners swear by to get rid of the unsightly patches in just minutes.

And that’s the Pro-Kleen black spot remover.

You can get a huge five-litre bottle of the solution for £25, and green-fingered homeowners on the Mrs Hinch Gardening Tips Facebook page insisted it works a treat.

When one person asked for advice getting rid of the black spots, after multiple failed attempts, one person replied: “Pro-Kleen black spot destroyer it’s really good.

“Sprayed my slabs and within 10 minutes the black spots had gone.

“It really works like magic.”

“The product was great, as was the finished result on the Indian stone,” another added in a review on the Pro-Kleen website.

Sharing snaps of their patio both before and after using the Black Spot Remover, they continued: “Took a fraction of the time using the product as opposed to just jet washing.

“I have used it a couple of times now and will use again.”

“I had power hosed the patio but there were many black spots remaining,” someone else commented.

“I applied the Pro-Kleen with a spray and 99% of these were removed.

“Excellent!”

“I wouldn’t use anything else to clean my patio and drive, great product,” another added.

“Followed the instructions and black spot and mould disappeared really quickly,” someone else wrote.

“Left it overnight and hosed it off and repeated again a second time.

“Now my block paved driveway looks almost new again.”

June gardening jobs

The Sun's Gardening Editor, Veronica Lorraine, has shared the tasks you should take this month.

Stake out leggy perennials

With all the dramatic weather we’ve been having, it’s definitely time to stake out your leggy perennials (the ones that come back every year). Heavy rain and growth spurts, can make them collapse and flop.

Picking out the slugs and snails

Hopefully as we move into summer they  will do less damage as the plants get bigger.  The best way is still to go out at night with a head torch to find them.

Pick elderflower heads

You can use them to make your own cordial, or add to cakes, champagne or even fry them in batter.

Get on top of weeds

It’s around now that weeds really ramp up in the garden, so keep on top of them with hoe-ing – or just the traditional ‘on your knees with a hand fork’. Try and avoid chemicals – remember weeds are just plants in the wrong place.

Up the mowing

You’ll need to mow your lawn weekly now – if you’ve got time, weed it beforehand as once you mow you chop off the leaves and its harder to see them.

Check on your tomatoes

Your tomato plants will need attention – water, feed and regularly and pinch out the sideshoots.

Chelsea Chop

There’s still time for the Chelsea Chop – plants like Rudbeckia’s, Asters, Penstemons, Sedums and other perennials can be cut back by a third to help them get a bit more bushy, and prolong the flowering period.

Sort out your tulips

If you can be bothered and have space – lift and story your tulip  bulbs to ensure colour next Spring.

Deadheading your roses

Take them down to the first set of healthy leaves – which will ensure more flowers for longer.

Enjoy your space

Take some time to sit and enjoy your garden or outside space – it’s great for your mental health. Even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference.

“My patio slabs were covered in black spots, they looked old,” another said.

“They were also marked from where my pot plants had been standing over the years.

“My husband used Pro-Kleen on them, the results are amazing, My patio slabs look brand new, my garden looks amazing.

“Definitely recommend this product, and would definitely use again.

“Already recommended it to family members, who were also amazed at the transformation of our garden.”
