NEWPORT, RI – The Brenton Hotel, a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. Collection, announces the promotion of Rachael Burns to Assistant General Manager. Burns previously served as the hotel’s director of sales and marketing since its opening in 2020.

In her new position, Burns will oversee daily hotel operations, support the general manager with administrative tasks, handle all revenue, sales, and marketing efforts, and assist with staff training.

“Rachael has been a cornerstone of our success since the Brenton Hotel opened four years ago,” said Andy Ross, General Manager of the Brenton Hotel. “Her dedication and keen foresight have propelled the property to consistently surpass revenue and room booking expectations year after year. We are delighted to watch Rachael take on this new role and have no doubt she will continue to help lead the hotel to excellence.”

Prior to joining the Brenton Hotel, Burns served as the sales coordinator for The Vanderbilt in Newport, RI, from 2018 – 2020. She began her career in the culinary space, serving as private dining and events manager at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks in both Providence, RI, and Boston, and held numerous positions at BLT Steak Charlotte in North Carolina including private dining and event manager, pastry chef, assistant event coordinator, and server. Burns began her career as an executive pastry chef at Noble’s Restaurants in Charlotte, NC.

Burns holds a Bachelor of Science in Baking and Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales University. She is ServeSafe certified and has assisted in coordinating charity events for No Kid Hungry, A Child’s Place, and other non-profit organizations.

The Brenton Hotel opened in July 2020 as the newest luxury boutique hotel on the waterfront in Newport, RI. With harbor and city views, the 57 rooms and suites are the most spacious in town: each is 450 square feet, with suites at 1,200 square feet. Guests will find understated “nautical-chic” touches, floor-to-ceiling windows, a living room reception area with discreet seating areas and bar that serves craft cocktails and small plates. The environmentally sensitive green rooftop provides a social oasis with unobstructed views of Newport’s bustling harbor.
