CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- With the real feel temperatures soaring into the triple digits, some Capital Region businesses did all they can to help keep people cool. NEWS10 is checking in with several locations throughout the area to see how people were making do with high heat.

Finding ways to beat the scorching heat in the Capital Region.  “We are playing with water it's so hot today,” said one child playing in water in Troy.

Beating the heat is easier said than done. “Ready for summer to come so we can go everywhere and get wet,” said another child playing in the water.

These kids have the right idea by keeping cool out in front of their family restaurant, El Sabor Del Cibao.   “It's really hot out and we think we're going to die out here,” exclaimed another one of the children playing in the water.

Undoubtedly, a warmer than normal start to our seasonal temperatures.  It’s caused the cancellation of some local events and others had to find a way to battle through the heat. Like these vendors from Halfmoon.  “Well, it was a little too hot for our regular Farmer’s Market, so they closed us down,” said Kerry Crandall, owner of Bare Roots Family Farm.

“I kind of panicked because we spent 16 hours on Monday harvesting, getting ready and all that kind of stuff. Because we knew the heat was coming and we knew it was going to be warm,” said Autumn Carpenter, owner Carpenter Farms.

So, with the Halfmoon Farmer’s Market shut down, she found another way. “I started reaching out to some local friends that own businesses around here and my friend Tami came through,” said Crandall.

“Autumn and I have known each other for 10 or 12 years. She called for a place trying to begged for a place to come, and I said there's no need to beg we're not open on Wednesdays. Set on up,” said Tami Grasso, Capitaland Flooring Company.

Tami tells NEWS10 reporter James De La Fuente in an email response later in the eveneing, “Well, it appears that the three vendors that were at our showroom today had a very successful pop-up market day, and all went home. Very happy.”

And some vendors took advantage of the new spot. “Autumn contacted me and said this is available. So, I'm like hey, I have bread ready for customers who need it. So here I am,” said Loralynn White, owner of Sourdough on Spring.

The NEWS10 crew then headed to Troy to where Jimmy’s Pizzeria was offering their dining room as a spot for city workers and anyone needing to stay cool.  “On Tuesday I had about four or five city workers come in and get ice for their coolers and stuff like that. We had two people in the dining room yesterday, came in and just ate. They got slices and ate,” said Jerry Buchanan, manager at Jimmy’s Pizzeria.

As for folks in the kitchen, well it felt like an inferno, and the coolness of the diner side was blast of cool relief.

Up next, the MVP arena also doing what they can to help keep people hydrated and cool. One woman who was looking for a break from the heat, tells NEWS10 Reporter James De La Fuente they need more spots like this on days like today.  “And they should be throughout the city,” said Heather Elizabeth German.

And we can’t forget our fury friends and family members. Andrew Fiumano, Director of Humane Law Enforcement with Mohawk Hudson Humane Society says the heat takes a toll on them too. He says, “Most basic level hydration is key. We all get hot. We get tired, we get thirsty on days like this. So, it's important to take the same steps for your animals that you want to do for yourself.”
