Royals vs. A’s game thread

The A’s broke a nine-game losing streak last night and can take a series victory with another win tonight

It’s so good to be home.

The A’s kicked off their six-game homestand last night with a 7-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals to officially snap their nine-game losing streak. Tonight the two teams will go at it again with the same 6:40 PM PDT first-pitch as the A’s try to make it two in a row and take a series win.

For the A’s, it would be there first series win in nearly a month when they took 23 against the Colorado Rockies at home on May 23. Luis Medina gets the starting nod for the A’s looking to pick up his first win of the season in his fourth start. His first three have been alright; the last two have seen him go a combined 9.2 innings with 13 hits and 10 runs surrendered.

Below is the lineup behind Medina tonight. It’s the same nine as last night’s victory except Daz Cameron in right instead of Lawrence Butler with a little shuffle in the order at the bottom as well. If it brought the team their first win in over a week last night, don’t fix it.

As for the 41-33 third-place Royals, they’ll counter with southpaw Cole Ragans. He’s 4-4 on the season but Ragans has been an innings and strikeout machine.

He’s averaged just under six innings pitched throughout his 15 starts thus far while also ranking fifth in baseball in strikeouts with 102 through 86 innings. His high punch-out rate mixed with the strikeout prone A’s hitters is a bit scary, but Ragans is catching the A’s on a win streak!

Speaking of hitters, below is the Royals lineup tonight. Holding superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. to an 0-5 mark at the dish last night was huge, and the A’s pitching staff will look to replicate that effort tonight.

A series victory sounds good to me, how about you all? See everyone very soon!
