House of the Dragon Season 2 Was Max’s Best Streaming Day Ever
Season 2 of House of the Dragon is basically Alicent Hightower asking “Y’all wanna hear a story about why me & this princess here fell out?! It’s kinda long but full of suspense.” And according to Variety, 7.8 million viewers globally said “Yes.” The season 2 premiere of HOTD had fewer viewers than its season 1 debut, but still managed to give Max its best streaming day overall. Which is especially good for such a child murder-heavy plot. It was also Warner Bros. Discovery’s biggest season 2 streaming premiere in Europe, where Max only recently launched.
House of the Dragon premiered with 10 million viewers in 2022, peaking with episode 2 and 10.2 million viewers. Despite Max’s big night, the show has seen a 20% drop in viewership. As the dragon war heats up (because of all the fire, get it?) we’ll see if more people tune in.
