ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Buildings around the city of Albany were lit in different colors Wednesday in honor of Juneteenth. Juneteeth is the newest federal holiday, which commemorates slaves in Texas being notified of their freedom in 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

The buildings were lit in red, green and black. Some of the buildings that displayed the different colors included Empire State Plaza and the New York State Education Building.
