Trump backstabber's ideas should be 'terrible enough' for GOP — but apparently not: expert
The drama unfolding in the House Republican caucus and among Republican primary voters in Virginia is revealing just what a train wreck the party truly has become, former Obama administration adviser and CNN commentator Van Jones told anchor Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday.
This comes as the primary for Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), the chair of the far-right House Freedom Caucus, is too close to call, with Good trailing by a few hundred votes to "Stop the Steal" Jan. 6 attendee John McGuire, after Trump endorsed the latter.
"Congressman Good is one of the most conservative members of Congress," said Blitzer. "What does it say to you that he's trailing right now, by a little, but he's trailing in this primary contest."

"I mean, it just shows that this is a Republican Party, certainly in the House, is just degenerated into personality over politics," said Jones. "This guy has terrible ideas already. He's against abortion for anybody, he wants people who have been raped by their uncles to have their babies. That should be terrible enough for the Republican Party. That's not terrible enough because he doesn't get along with Donald Trump."
"The Republican Party in the House has degenerated — if a reality TV show, professional wrestling, and a soap opera had a baby, it might look like the Republican caucus," laughed Jones. "It's all nonsense, all the time. This is — these are not serious candidates. And the problem that you have now is Donald Trump gets all the credit if Good loses, but don't forget Good is good in name only. He's not a good politician. He's pissed off everybody in the party."
"Everything is about Donald Trump and no matter how terrible these ideas are, they're not terrible enough if you don't like Donald Trump, we get along with him every, every minute of every day," he added.
