Gayle King Defends Justin Timberlake, Says DWI Arrest Was 'Clearly a Mistake'
Gayle King has come out in support of Justin Timberlake amid his DWI arrest.
The 43-year-old singer was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York on Tuesday (June 18) for driving while intoxicated. According to People, Justin told officers, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.” He was released from jail after an overnight stay and his lawyer has released multiple statements following the arrest.
The CBS Mornings host opened up about the arrest during a segment on Wednesday (June 19).

“Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy. Listen, this is clearly a mistake. I bet nobody knows it more than he does,” Gayle said on the morning show.
Gayle acknowledged Justin‘s wrongdoing but told cohosts Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson he is “not an irresponsible person. He’s not reckless, careless. Clearly this is not a good thing. He knows that.”
At the end, Gayle pointed out that “there’s never any excuse ever” for drunk driving.
