Family of Albert Willis Jr. still seeking answers

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) – Three years after 71-year-old Albert Willis Jr. of St. Martinville disappeared and remains found, the question still remains of what happened.

"It was a test. Throughout the years, I've been struggling, trying to deal with this situation, not really knowing what happened to my brother," said Albert Willis's brother David Willis.

Willis was last seen at his St. Martinville home on Knight Street. Multiple search parties began for Willis stretching months with no leads. Over a year later, his remains were found by hunters in the woods near where he was last seen. David says the search parties looked everywhere, but the spot where his remains were found. He says this still gets to him to this day, but has found some closure in what happened. "If things were to react sooner than what happened, he probably could have been found alive. But you know, it's all in God's plan."

St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin says there was no evidence indicating how Willis died and how he got to where he was found. The case is still open. David urges anyone with information to come forward. "Anybody knows something concerning this case. Please contact the chief, Ricky Martin, on behalf of our family and let us know what's going on."

He says the family is planning a memorial service soon for Albert to honor him and the life he lived.
