Ralph Lauren partners with Oregon company for Team USA's 2024 blazers
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Ralph Lauren unveiled Team USA’s opening and closing ceremony parade uniforms on Tuesday for the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris – including blazers with an Oregon connection.
This is the ninth year Ralph Lauren is serving as the official outfitter for Team USA, with 2024's uniforms celebrating "classic styles that are made to be loved and endure for generations while showcasing iconic American style on the unparalleled global stage,” the designer label said in a press release.
Ralph Lauren partnered with several manufacturers across the United States to produce the uniforms, including one supplier from Oregon: Shaniko Wool Company.
The Maupin-based company provided the wool for Ralph Lauren’s Opening Ceremony Blazer, described as a classic tailored single-breasted wool blazer with red and white tipping worn with a striped oxford shirt. The look is “unexpectedly” paired with a tapered jean and classic suede buck shoes, Ralph Lauren said.
The wool from the Oregon company comes from Merino/Rambouillet sheep raised in the western United States and is Responsible Wool Standard certified by Textile Exchange, to ensure "the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on."
Ralph Lauren has previously partnered with Shaniko Wool Company for the 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics Team USA uniforms.
