Former Spurs player is ‘excited’ about what Postecoglou can achieve next season

Jamie O’Hara thinks a fifth-place finish should be considered a success for Ange Postecoglou in his first season at Tottenham and insisted that he saw enough signs to be excited about what the next campaign has in store for the club.

Even though Tottenham had a horrid run of results in the final couple of months of the campaign and ended up missing out on Champions League qualification, Postecoglou certainly appears to have the backing of the overwhelming majority of the supporters.

The same can be said of the players as well, with many Tottenham stars, including captain Son Heung-min (The Standard) and vice-captain Cristian Romero (Direct TV Sports), making it clear that the Australian is the right man to bring success to N17.

O’Hara has now said that finishing fifth after losing Harry Kane gives Tottenham a solid base to build on and admitted that he is excited about the upcoming campaign.

O’Hara is excited for the new season

The former Tottenham man told Grosvenor Sport: “Last season, Tottenham lost Harry Kane and still finished fifth. Having said that, they messed up at the end of the season missing out on the Champions League.

“It was where they lost four on the bounce – they lacked that cutting edge and it’s a shame. I don’t think they can be disappointed, if you offered them fifth and an exciting style of football, they’d have taken it.

“Last season has provided Tottenham with something to build on, it was Ange’s first season in charge and they have got to kick on.

“They have to strengthen and sign some good players; they’ve got European competitions and cup competitions to go at next year, which I’m excited to see them participate in.”

It is vital that we start the 2024-25 season well and come flying out of the blocks.

After the poor results towards the end of the last campaign, Ange will be aware that doubts will start creeping into the minds of players about the system if we do not start the next campaign promisingly.
