Groom slammed for ‘dressing like some middle schooler on the way to gym’ – people say they ‘wouldn’t have married him’

GETTING married is as good of an occasion as any for a black-tie dress code, or so you’d think.

Critics were appalled by a groom who showed up in casual wear to his own wedding.

Redditor Stem_ho shared the wedding attire in a viral post.

A bride had posted photos of their casual ceremony to commemorate the affair, but the groom showed up a little too casually dressed, sporting a red T-shirt, navy shorts, and sneakers.

She, however, came prepared in a white lacy dress.

“Today was MY day! We did it… 13 years later, and I married my forever partner!” she wrote.

The original poster, however, was shocked that the couple had been together for that long.

“Thirteen years together, and he can’t even manage some nice jeans,” they wrote.

“Ugh, I try so hard not to judge, but after 13 years together, you’d think the groom could put in a little more effort than dressing like some middle schooler on the way to the gym.”

While OP felt apologetic about being judgemental, others agreed that it couldn’t be helped.

Many felt that the groom showed up in less than the bare minimum.

“This is giving ‘I begged him to propose for a literal decade, and he only finally agreed when I gave him an ultimatum,'” said one commenter.

“Literally. I’d be so hurt if my partner made it so obvious that he wasn’t putting even an iota of effort into the wedding day,” said another.

“Seriously. I’m not big on the whole huge, spectacular wedding idea,” said a third.

“But this lady was obviously very excited for ‘her day,’ and bro couldn’t even manage some dark jeans and a button-up.”

“The bar is truly in hell,” said one dejected viewer.

Many predicted the marriage will fail in a few years based on his outfit alone[/caption]

Some said they would’ve reacted much differently if their partner had shown up dressed so casually.

“I wouldn’t have married him,” stated a commenter.

“If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home, and changed the locks.”

“I agree, but after 13 years, she was probably just glad he showed up!” said another.

Many predicted the trajectory of the couple’s marriage based on the perceived red flag outfit.

“I call this one ‘the messy divorce in 5 years, but only after having a kid to ‘save the marriage’ and it exacerbating the problem that was always one of us two not putting in their share of effort’ special combo outfit,” said one.

“You’re giving it another five years?” said another.

“Dude looks to have given her a ‘shut up’ ring–there’s an excellent chance that they’re divorced in two years or less.”
