He’s a devout Christian and the son of a pastor.
As a rule Dan won’t work on Sundays and uses the day to spend time with his family.
He explained: “I’ve never done it to prove anybody wrong. I just need that sort of day when my family knows I am going to be there and it’s a day to do something a little bit different.
“My sister’s a nurse; she works on Sunday. Obviously my dad’s a pastor so he used to work every Sunday.”
He continued to tell Sorted Magazine: “But it has worked for me. I know there are plenty of things that I’ve not been able to do over the years, amazing jobs that I’ve turned down, but I’m very happy with that decision.
“I’ve never tried to give anybody another reason not to employ me. I also make a very good cup of tea which is important.”
Dan – who left the BBC Breakfast in 2021 – stopped short of revealing which roles he could’ve bagged.
These days the dad-of-two presents Channel 5 News on weeknights and also his hour-long show each morning on Classic FM.
Last year the star was caught up in a horror collision whilst cycling which left him with a bloodied and bruised face.
Dan was hit by a car that sent him flying off his bike, knocking him out for 25 minutes.
